The Boma Place of Eating still drumming up a storm at Victoria Falls
The Boma – Place of Eating, the most acclaimed restaurant at Victoria Falls, has won the prestigious 2011 Zimbabwe on a Plate national award for The Most Imaginative Dining Experience for the third year running.
And another Africa Albida Tourism Group facility, the Makuwa-Kuwa Restaurant at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (VFSL), was a finalist in the hotly-contested Most Imaginative Menu category.
These series of awards, launched in 2005 by The Cheeseman, are open to restaurants and coffee shops throughout Zimbabwe and the latest awards presentation was held on Sunday 25 March at the Stapleford Winery Private Cellar near Harare.
To achieve fairness and objectivity a team of anonymous reviewers, drawn from the ordinary Zimbabwe dining public, evaluates the restaurants and awards marks for food, menu, service, decor, theme, cleanliness and ambience.
The 300-seat Boma Restaurant, on-property at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, continues to enchant and entertain visitors on a nightly basis and is one of the most unique “must do” experiences around Victoria Falls. It not only offers a tantalising variety of barbecue game dishes but also vibrant ethnic dance performances, interactive African drumming and traditional story-telling.
The Boma has won several other accolades in past years, including Best Ethnic Restaurant (2007 from Zimbabwe Tourism Authority).
