TWO DAYS IN VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE

DAY 1: WELCOME TO VICTORIA FALLS!

  • Arrive at Victoria Falls International Airport where you will be met and transferred to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, a sunset-facing lodge with spectacular views over the Zambezi National Park, including a wildlife-rich waterhole offering opportunities to view elephant, buffalo, kudu and other game, as well as a variety of birds including marabou storks.
  • Check in and continue down to the Buffalo Bar for lunch. This bar, once included in Heineken’s “Great Bars of the World” list, has a delicious menu with stunning views over the waterhole.   It is a favourite sundowner spot for guests and locals alike.
  • You will be collected from the lodge for your sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, Africa’s fourth longest, where you will enjoy snacks and drinks, as well as the opportunity to spot wildlife such as elephant, hippo, crocodile and magnificent birds. This is a great way to soak up the serenity of your surroundings as the sun sets over the water and day turns to night.
  • Return to the lodge for dinner at MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant which is open on three sides and overlooks the waterhole, offering a unique opportunity to view game as you enjoy your fine dining experience. The a la carte dinner menu includes dishes with a local twist such as the popular flame-grilled warthog and Zambezi bream.
  • Overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

DAY 2:

  • Enjoy breakfast at MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant consisting of an extensive continental buffet and an a la carte selection of cooked dishes, such as the ‘Livukile’ breakfast of soft poached eggs on toasted brown bread, honey glazed ham, grilled tomato and hollandaise sauce.
  • After breakfast depart on a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be awed by the sheer beauty of the largest curtain of falling water in the world, and your guide will enthral you with the history of the Falls, as well as detailing the flora, fauna and other points of interest.
  • After your visit to the Falls choose from an array of activities – from a leisurely wander around the town, exploring the craft markets, gorge swinging, zip lining and a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls. Or simply relax at the pool deck.
  • At 1pm make your way to the Buffalo Bar viewing deck to take part in the Vulture Culture Experience. Witness the spectacular sight of hundreds of vultures swooping down and feeding on leftover meat scraps and bones from the on-site restaurants.This supplementary feeding programme aids the survival of these remarkable but endangered birds.
  • Lunch at the Buffalo Bar.
  • Dinner tonight is at the The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show, a legendary must-do dining and entertainment experience which specialises in traditional African dining, interactive drumming and dancing. Your meal begins with a mouth-watering platter of starters, followed by soup from the campfire and a buffet featuring warthog fillet, grilled ostrich as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes and dessert.
  • Overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Day 3:

  • After breakfast transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your departure flight.

THREE DAYS IN VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE

DAY 3:

  • After breakfast choose from a large array of activities – from a leisurely wander around the town, exploring the craft markets, to adrenalin sports including white water rafting, gorge swinging, zip lining and a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls.Or simply relax at the pool deck.
  • In the late afternoon, meet up with your guide at the Activities Desk and depart on a sit at the Siduli Hide, located at the edge of the lodge’s waterhole, for an exciting opportunity to watch wildlife at very close quarters.
  • Dinner at MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant

DAY 4:

  • After breakfast transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your departure flight.

Eight days in Western Zimbabwe and in Chobe, Botswana

DAY 1: WELCOME TO ZIMBABWE!

  • Arrive at Bulawayo’s Joshua MqabukoNkomo International Airport where you will be met and transferred to Camp Amalinda. The camp is situated on the outskirts of the Matobo Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the incredible rock paintings of the San Bushmen remain, and which also offer rich wildlife viewing opportunities, including rhino and the highest concentrations of leopard and black eagle in the world.  The Matobo Hills are also known for their spectacular scenery characterised by unique balancing granite boulders.
  • Accommodation includes all meals, local beverages, two activities per day and laundry. Activities are agreed upon on arrival, and they include game drives, rhino tracking, exploring the mystical Matobo Hills for the San Bushmen rock painting, nature walks and visits to the local community for an insight into their way of life and culture.  Or relax beside the camp’s infinity rock pool and soak up the stunning views.

DAY 3:

  • After breakfast, you will be transferred to Khulu Ivory Lodge in Hwange, approximately a four-hour drive. The lodge is situated on a private concession bordering Hwange National Park. You will spend two nights in a luxury tented suite surrounded by the wilds of Africa.
  • Wildlife may be viewed from the comfort of your suite or the lodge’s floodlit waterhole. Morning and evening game drives and walks with a professional guide offer great viewing and photo opportunities of the famous Presidential Elephant Herd as well as lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and other plains game and birds.   Other activities include visiting the Painted Dog Research Centre as well as interaction with the local community.
  • Accommodation includes all meals, local beverages, two activities per day and laundry. Activities are agreed upon on arrival.

DAY 5:

  • After breakfast transfer by road to Victoria Falls Safari Club, approximately a three-hour drive.
  • Located within the magnificent grounds of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, the premium 20-room Victoria Falls Safari Club has uninterrupted views of unspoilt bushveld and spectacular African sunsets. The exclusive Safari Club offers personalised butler service and provides unforgettable experiences on the doorstep of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
  • Accommodation includes meals, mini-bar, afternoon teas and sundowners and canapés as well as laundry and a courtesy shuttle bus to Victoria Falls Rainforest and town centre.
  • On arrival check in and then go across to the Buffalo Bar viewing deck at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge for the Vulture Culture Experience at 1pm, followed by lunch either at the Buffalo Bar or MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant. The Vulture Culture Experience is a supplementary feeding programme that aids the survival of these remarkable but endangered birds.  You will witness the spectacular sight of hundreds of vultures swooping down and feeding on leftover meat scraps and bones from the on-site restaurants.
  • Spend the afternoon at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge pool deck which overlooks a wildlife-rich waterhole.
  • Return to the Safari Club for complimentary afternoon tea and pastries served on the deck from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and later cocktails and canapés from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
  • Dinner tonight is at The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show, a legendary must-do dining and entertainment experience which specialises in traditional African dining, interactive drumming and dancing. Your meal begins with a mouth-watering platter of starters, followed by soup from the campfire and a buffet featuring warthog fillet, grilled ostrich as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes and dessert.
  • Overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Club

DAY 6:

  • After breakfast at the Safari Club depart on a guided tour of one of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be awed by the sheer beauty of the largest curtain of falling water in the world, and your guide will enthral you with the history of the Falls, as well as detailing the flora, fauna and other points of interest.
  • Lunch is at either MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant or at the Safari Club deck, after which you may want to enjoy leisure time or fit in an activity such as a helicopter ride over the Victoria Falls.
  • In the late afternoon you will be collected from the lodge for your sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, Africa’s fourth longest, where you will enjoy snacks and drinks, as well as the opportunity to spot wildlife such as elephant, hippo, crocodile and magnificent birds. This is a great way to soak up the serenity of your surroundings as the sun sets over the water and day turns to night.
  • Return to the Safari Club after the cruise for dinner under the stars on the viewing deck. Dinner is shared platters with choices of antipasto, seafood and river fish or fillet and fowl.  You also have the option of creating your own platter from the available selection.  The platters are accompanied by salad and breads, and followed by dessert.
  • Overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Club

DAY 7:

  • After breakfast transfer to Ngoma Safari Lodge in Chobe, Botswana. The transfer time is approximately two and a half hours, including the border formalities at Kazungula Border Post.
  • Arrive at Ngoma Safari Lodge, which is a luxury, eight-suite boutique lodge built on a ridge with panoramic views of the wildlife-rich Chobe River and floodplain.
  • Check in and lunch
  • Depart on an afternoon game drive in the Chobe National Park and enjoy sundowners there.
  • Return to the lodge and enjoy dinner under the stars (weather permitting)
  • After dinner you have the option of a night game drive in the Chobe Forest Reserve where you may see spring hares, baboons sleeping in trees, or if you are lucky, lion.
  • Overnight at Ngoma Safari Lodge.

DAY 8:

  • After breakfast this morning depart on a full day safari in the famous Chobe National Park, also known as The Land of Giants. The park is home to the largest population of elephants in the world and provides excellent game viewing and birding opportunities.The safari begins with a boat cruise on the Chobe River, where you may see elephants swimming across the river, trunks up, and a wide variety of other game up close.  Following the cruise, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, after which you will continue through the park on a game drive.
  • Return to lodge in time for sundowners

DAY 9:

  • You may wish to go on an early morning game drive, visit Mabele, the nearby village for an opportunity to interact with the local community.
  • After breakfast transfer to either Kasane Airport or Victoria Falls Airport for your departure flight.
